Nanjing: the best place for the 2014 YOG
Nanjing, Feb. 8, 2010--Zhu Shanlu, Director of the Nanjing 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games Bid Committee (YOGBC), boarded the plane yesterday with his bidding team en route to Vancouver.
A number of city officials including Mayor Ji Jianye saw off the delegation at Lukou International Airport.
At the airport, Zhu expressed his gratitude for the support that the Jiangsu Provincial Government and Nanjing’s residents have been giving to Nanjing’s bid for the YOG. With a year’s efforts, the city is ready in every aspect for the bidding, remarked Zhu. “We will work till the last minute and will try our utmost to reach our goal.”
Mayor Ji Jianye said that bidding for the YOG is a significant event for Nanjing, and the city’s 8 million residents are standing behind the delegation and cheering for it. He believed that at the 122nd IOC Session the delegation will succeed in conveying to every IOC member the message that Nanjing is the best place for the 2014 YOG and is able to deliver an excellent YOG.
Other officials present at the airport also expressed their good wishes.
The Nanjing delegation is scheduled to make its bid presentation at 11 a.m., February 10, Vancouver Time (i.e., 3 a.m., February 11, Beijing Time). The election result will come out two hours later.
