    The YOGBC Solicits Bid Slogans for the 2014 YOG 

    The Nanjing 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games Bid Committee (YOGBC) is soliciting slogans for its bidding of the Second Summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in 2014. The slogans should highlight Nanjing’s concept for the 2014 YOG of “Olympics for youth, and Olympics by youth”, demonstrate and promote the history and culture of China and Nanjing, and show Chinese and Nanjing youth’s warm welcome to the world.
     
    I. Event
    The YOGBC solicits bid slogans for the Nanjing 2014 YOG.
     
    II. Time
    23 September, 2009 – 30 November, 2009

    III. Requirements
    The slogans should serve to promote the city of Nanjing and its bidding of the 2014 YOG and embody the Olympic spirit and values. They should meet the following requirements:
    1.    The slogans should express the theme of world peace and development and highlight the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship, and Respect. They should be readily understood and embraced by people of different cultural backgrounds from different countries or regions.
    2.    The slogans should demonstrate the vitality, energy, and dynamism of the young people.
    3.    The slogans should be related to the history and culture of China, especially Nanjing, and should feature Chinese characteristics in expressing the Olympic spirit and values.
    4.    The slogans should distinguish themselves from those of the Olympic Games in that they lay emphasis on the YOG’s integration of sports with culture and education.
    5.    The slogans should be written in concise, lively, and catchy language that can create a visual effect and appeal to the audience.
     
    IV. Participants
    1.    All individuals and organizations that support Nanjing’s bidding of the YOG can participate in this event, regardless of the country or region they are from.
    2.    Those involved in the organization of the event and/or selection of the slogans are not allowed to submit their works.
     
    V. Submission
    1. Participants should fill out the entry form attached to this announcement, and submit the completed and signed form, together with their works, to the YOGBC.
    2. Participants can log onto the official website of the YOGBC (www.nanjing2014.org) to download the “Solicitation of Bid Slogans for the Nanjing 2014 YOG” entry form, print it, and mail it to the following address:

    3. Participants may also send the entry form through email as an attachment to zj@nanjing2014.org and go through the follow-up procedures according to the YOGBC’s directions.
    4. Participants may call 025-83638766 (workdays) should they have any questions or suggestions.
     
    VI. Selection
    The YOGBC will invite experts to form a selection committee to assess all the submitted slogans in December 2009 and announce the final result in due time. The selection process will be notarized.
     
    VII. Awards
    The YOGBC will award one first prize and 20 prizes for excellence to participants whose works are selected.
    Winner of the first prize will receive a certificate and RMB 5,000.
    Winner of the prize for excellence will receive a certificate and a commemorative item.
     
    VIII. Additional Remarks
    All disputes that may arise during this event should be solved in Nanjing and according to the laws of the People’s Republic of China. The YOGBC reserves the sole right to interpret the terms of this event.
